Popped in for a quick lunch with friends. They had a lunchtime special which was very reasonable at £20 for a steak and desert. The food is beautifully presented and full of flavour. Really top notch. The English beef onglet was really scrumptious. The Crème brûlée was absolutely perfect. Everyone had an excellent meal and if you’re looking for really excellent French style food I’d highly recommend Coq d’Argent.

This place is in a very prime location, just in front of the Bank of England and has beautiful views from the garden over the city. The food is there amazing, the wine lost is good and the prices are very reasonable for this kind of establishment. Overall, it is a good place to go for a meal or drinks.

Went with girlfriend to celebrate my birthday & New Years Eve 2025. Genuinely the WORST restaurant experience I have ever come across in my 30 years living in London. We sat down at 9.25pm and did not get served our first drink until 10.40pm - a 75 minutes wait! On NYE!!! The staff were rushed, inconsiderate and outright rude. We were meant to finish all 6 coursers before midnight, but they could only manage 4, and then had the cheek to still try and charge for 6. Every other table around us also had a miserable experience. It was simply embarrassing from start to finish. And at £150pp just for the food, a complete rip-off too. At the very least, they should have offered to comp the wine that took 75 minutes to order.

It is a very unique restaurant location. The setting is atop of London's financial hub-bub and almost amongst the clouds. Delightful decor, charming staff (mostly) although the most grotesque food. I had no idea it was a French eaterie and was utterly appalled at the sight of fellow diners tucking into snails.... and such expensive snails to boot! I, for one, refuse to spend money on something I can scrape off of my shoe and consume for free. The dress code (if there is one) seems to be smart/casual - although I don't think management is too uptight on the subject, judging by the gaggle of diners seated at the table opposite us, who were all sporting ill-fitting berets which they never removed at all. We all agreed they must be the 'Some Mothers' Do 'Ave 'Em' Appreciation Society at their annual celebratory meal. Whilst glancing at the menu and then the prices, I almost went into cardiac arrest.... A trifle exorbitant would be an understatement. The ambience is usually delightful, although it depends on who is in charge of the music system that day. Repeated listens to dire vocalists like Charles Aznavour, Sacha Distel, Marcel Mouloudji, and the like, do grate after a while. The accordion does tend to lose its charm after it has featured prominently on an entire album of ditties about baguettes. At one point, my party and I were reduced to hysterical laughter as the theme tune to 'Allo 'Allo! was piped around the select venue. Unfortunately, this delightful location is also plagued by another problem, other than the Gallic cuisine. The celebrated 'viewing platform', which gives spectacular birds eye views of the city, is occasionally used by some diners to end their lives - One glance at the prices can often always justify this drastic action. But alas, since it's opening, several people have leapt to their doom from this roof garden platform, yet no manager has authorised any price reduction from the menu thus far. The biggest and perhaps, most perplexing aspect of this whole tragic affair though, must be the fact that every diner who dove to oblivion after their Crepe Suzette, perished having paid their bill in full - some leaving a tip! Sacre bleu!!!

Disappointing New Year's Eve Experience I had high expectations for this venue’s New Year's Eve party, but unfortunately, the experience fell short. The service was extremely slow—it took over 45 minutes just to receive a single drink. On top of that, the staff were unaccommodating and came across as quite rude. Even something as simple as the complimentary champagne included with our tickets seemed like a hassle for them to provide. Given the reputation of this establishment, I expected a much higher level of service. Overall, it was a frustrating experience, and I would not recommend attending a special event here unless improvements are made.

I visited Coq d'Argent on Tuesday December 3, 2024 with a group of work colleagues for lunch. We were looked after by Kenny who was one of the floor managers. I have a peanut allergy but realise I couldn't have been in safer hands. Kenny was very attentive and quite entertaining and we all had the most lovely lunch. I would definitely return again and hope to cross paths with Kenny again sometime. Food was delicious - just a lot of it for me! I quickly knew I'd have to save myself for dessert!!

Our New Year’s Eve dinner at the restaurant was, unfortunately, a disappointing experience. Although the staff was friendly, they appeared overwhelmed. Upon arrival, we were asked three times if we were ready to start our meal, even though we had explained that we wanted to wait for a while since we had arrived earlier than expected. The food was underwhelming. My partner chose the meat dish and found it satisfactory, but I opted for the vegetarian menu, which fell short of expectations. While the first three courses were acceptable, they lacked any standout quality. The truffle on the risotto, for example, was nearly flavorless. Additionally, we were served bread with butter at the beginning, only to find it later added to our bill, despite not having ordered it. Pricing was another frustration. The menu prices were inconsistent, with conflicting amounts displayed on the website and in the restaurant. This lack of transparency was off-putting. The service at the end of the evening was equally disappointing. When we expressed interest in staying a little longer, we were told we could move to the bar, but the waiter quickly added that it was “probably already full” without checking to confirm. To make matters worse, we discovered that a 15% gratuity was automatically added to our bill. While this is common practice in cities like London, it should have been clearly stated on the menu. The bill was simply brought to us without anyone asking if we had enjoyed the meal or if we needed anything else. The ambiance was also less than ideal. Our table was uncomfortably cold due to a constant draft from the terrace, which made the evening even less enjoyable. Overall, the evening failed to meet our expectations, with neither the food nor the service making up for the shortcomings. Regrettably, we cannot recommend this restaurant.

There for the new Years party... what to say except a complete scam... 50£ just so that the extremely rude bartender with glasses come yelling at us at the bar because we'll... we were chatting while waiting to get served? "Give us a break!!! We deserve a break We won't open back for at least 15min! Don't stand there" (that was at 11h45). Another calmer bartender informed us then that the bar would be reopening after the firework. OK fine. Back at the bar at 00:05. Yelled at again for daring to come back hoping for a drink. 15min later they informed us that the bar was closed and would not reopen... at a NY party????!!! Many people were extremely unhappy because they kept their sparkly wine voucher to toast the new year. They refuse to serve these people either telling them they should have thought about it earlier (🤯). Please leave the hospitality business... this place was everything but hospitable. The one star remaining was the kind girl who apologized to us for the behavior or her college who lashed our at every customer daring to come close to the bar past 11:45. Needless don't ever come there for NY. The snack food was neither bad or good, just average.

NEW YEARS EVE 2025 - Disappointing. This is the third time we have chosen to spend New Years Eve at Coq d’Argent. The previous two occasions (2021 and 2023) have been lovely - hence us returning for a third year. This year unfortunately was disappointing, and not to the usual standard we have experienced previously, or you would expect from a high quality London restaurant, and for the price that you pay. The whole evening either felt rushed - or very slow. Service was below par. The waiter for our table kept saying how busy it was. It did feel at times chaotic due to the number of people that had been ‘packed in’. Our table was at 830pm. There were a number of things I picked up on that I want to highlight in this review; - The difference in attention to detail and quality of ‘small touches’ wasn’t there this year. For example, previous years have had table decorations (I have photos on my phone from previous years), and the menus were previously printed on good quality card/ booklets and left on the table for the duration of the evening. This also allowed diners to take them home as momento’s - which we have previously done. This year, the tables were bare, save for tablecloth and cutlery, and the menus were on A4 paper, that were clearly being passed around to each table given the state of them, and weren’t left with us so we didn’t know what course coming next or what is was - Champagne; given it was NYE, we weren’t offered champagne at any point during the evening and had to ‘chase’ a waiter down as we neared midnight to get a class so that me and my husband could toast in the New Year. Previous years we have been offered champagne on arrival, then throughout the evening, and then we always offered/ made sure we had a glass as we approached midnight. - Service; we had to ask for a wine list, and by the time our order was taken, our first course was being served. We didn’t have wine to enjoy with the food until the second course was served. We were also mistakenly given two of the same course - which allowed a slight time delay for the wine to finally arrive, however is not a good reflection on the service - Food; most courses were served at best, tepidly warm, or cold. It felt like some had been waiting on the pass for a while to be served to diners. The bread that was served at the beginning of the meal was hard, and difficult to eat, and only a small amount of butter was given to us, so 2 thirds of the bread we had to eat dry (it was also difficult to get the attention of the service staff to talk about these issues as they were so busy) - Other disappointments; we were rushed to pay before midnight and almost missed the New Year as we weren’t allowed to leave our table until we had paid. I understand that there were issues last year with people not paying, but it added unneeded stress and didn’t make for a nice feeling going into the New Year. We weren’t given our final course - Petit Fours - and had to ask for them at the end of the night, by which time they too had been left out and we clearly were given what was left and not the full selection of what had been given to other diners - Fireworks; normally a fantastic display of fireworks from Coq d’Argent, but due to the amount of people, the terrace was full and you couldn’t actually see them. - Bill; we were overcharged on an item on the bill and had to get it corrected before being able to pay. Overall, a disappointing way to spend NYEve. Which is a shame because this is our third time here, after having spent two lovely New Years Eves with you previously. Given the amount of money the evening cost and what we spent - from the fixed price set menu, and then wine, champagne and other items, the cost was not justified for the service and level of experience we had. I hope you can get back to your usual standard next year, however we unfortunately won’t be joining you given our experience this year. Thanks, Emma L.

A Decadent Delight: A Night at Coq d’Argent I'm not one to typically pen reviews, but my recent experience at Coq d’Argent was truly exceptional. For over a decade, I’ve yearned to dine at this iconic establishment, and I can confidently say it was well worth the wait. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were greeted with warm hospitality. The service was impeccable, with our server (a gentleman with a kind smile and black-framed glasses) consistently attentive and enthusiastic without being intrusive. The ambiance was sophisticated yet inviting, setting the perfect stage for a memorable evening. The food was the star of the show. The pulpo was tender and flavorful, the lamb shank was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and the dessert was simply divine. On a whim, we were even treated to a private tour of the stunning gardens by the friendly security guard, Joseph, who shared fascinating insights into the history of this 26-year-old gem. Coq d’Argent is not just a restaurant; it’s an experience. A must-visit for anyone seeking a truly special evening.
